Convention 2009

Convention 2009 is less than a year away, and the Texas Ramblin’ Roses Chapter is eagerly and actively engaged in planning and preparations. The significance of being selected as the host chapter for the most important RVW event of the year is not lost on our young chapter. Having started at the convention in Hutchinson, Kansas, we realize great things come from this annual gathering. We are honored to be entrusted with the 2009 event.

In October, we held a rally at Braunig Lake RV Resort, the site of the 2009 Convention, and drew our largest number of members and guests yet—over 80. Our members were given the opportunity to preview the location and volunteer for convention committees. Ideas and enthusiasm abounded. The Ramblin’ Roses are committed to making this year’s convention the best one yet, even though we have many tough acts to follow.

While we are the host chapter, assistance and involvement from the entire RVW membership is welcome and needed. Our chapter liaison overseeing the various organizing committees is Janice Ives.

We also recognize that the two major draws to the convention are the education sessions and the social activities. In an effort to address both of these, we are introducing a new type of seminar session. Along with the customary single instructor sessions/demos, we will add more panel discussions and include interest groups on the schedule. The interest groups will be more free-form sessions where women with a common interest can connect and network.

To make all three of these types of sessions a success, the Texas Ramblin’ Roses need the involvement of the entire RVW membership. We invite you to volunteer to lead a seminar or interest group or participate on a panel. If you are interested in volunteering, please let Pat Reader know at parrvn@mail.com. Likewise, if you have suggestions for session topics, please let her know. Keep in mind these are only suggestions and the actual sessions will depend on having teacher/leader volunteers.
With your help we can make San Antonio the best convention yet!

Anyone interested in helping can contact Janice Ives at glassives@aol.com. She can put you in contact with the appropriate committee chair.
